Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness. Originally begun by two researchers who saw the need for such a service in their region. This small site grew very rapidly from just a statewide service to an international one. Many Internet researchers give of themselves unselfishly in aiding others in their research. The 4350 volunteers of this movement have agreed at least once per month to do a research task in their local area as an act of kindness. The cost to you would be reimbursing the volunteer for his expenses in fulfilling your request (video tape, copy fees, etc.). Successful genealogical research is based upon people helping people. Our volunteers unselfishly provide information available in their area to those who live far away. If just one person volunteers from each county in the United States, and from other countries, once per month, researchers everywhere will benefit tremendously!
This is what one of Gedlik had to say,After signing up for many genealogical services, I was about to give up my retirement hobby for gardening when a friend of mine told me about Gedlink. Of course, I was skeptical, but she told me I could try it for free! So I went on their site and typed my name : Muller. To my surprise, it said many users were studying my name all over the US and central Europe. So I tried again; this time I entered more specific criteria. Well, believe it or not I found a genealogist in Germany who had gone further up my family tree than I had!! Thanks to Gedlink, I am now in touch with three very distant cousins in Germany and planning to visit them next summer!

I am a West Coast sociology student. My grandmother once told me we had origins is Mexico and Argentina. Last summer I decided I'd try to look up my ancestors.Surfing in the genealogy world, I quickly came accross GedLink. The site surprised me by its friendliness and efficiency: after a week or so, I received answers to my requests from Mexico and Argentina! Now I can trace my family back to the 1820's!
The National Archives offers insight into the lives of people, their families and our history. Because the records at the National Archives come from every branch of the Federal government, almost all Americans can find themselves, their ancestors, or their community in the archives. Knowing how a person interacted with the government is key to a successful search.
The bond between soldiers is powerful and lasting. Few people understand it; fewer experience it more than once. Until now. US SEARCH, the leader in public information, now offers a way for former military personnel to revisit the comradery of their days in the service
